How can I keep updated about job opportunities and news at STFC?

I have a disability, illness or injury which requires adjustments or additional support in the recruitment process, what should I do?

STFC operates a fair, open and consistent recruitment process. Applications are treated on their individual merit and according to the skills and experience required for that role. Should you have an illness or injury which requires adjustments or additional support that doesn’t fall under the Equality Act 2010, please let us know as early as possible so that we can arrange a conversation to discuss how to assist you in the recruitment process.

Do STFC offer flexible working?

We all appreciate that working hard is important, but finding a balance between working hard and living well is just as important. To help you manage your work/life balance, we offer a Flexible working scheme across all our sites. The aim is to give you the support you need to enjoy your work and perform at your best.

Can I apply for more than one job at the same time?

You can apply for multiple jobs at the same time through your profile.

Do you have an employee referral program?

We do have an employee referral scheme, please get in touch with any friends or relatives that you know working for STFC to let them know you are interested.

Can I edit my application once I have submitted it?

Yes, you can edit your application once you have submitted it. Once the advert has closed you will no longer be able to edit your application.

When am I likely to hear back about a role I have applied for?

We aim to shortlist within 3 weeks of the closing date. If we expect any delays to this process, we will endeavour to keep you updated.

All candidates will receive receipt of the outcome of their application, even if they are unsuccessful. Communication will be issued by UK SBS

Do you have flexible times for interview?

We do offer flexible times for interview, if the time given to you isn’t suitable please get in touch with us and we will try our best to arrange another time.

How can I prepare?

When preparing for your interview, ensure you research our organisation and remind yourself of the job description.

Prepare for a competency-based interview and come with examples from previous work, education and personal experience. Remember to prepare some of your own questions about the role and working here to ask at interview.

Please familiarise yourself with our location and allow plenty of time to arrive and check in with reception, which can often be busy ahead of your interview.

Early Careers

Aside on the job training, what does the formal training look like on the graduate scheme?

As well as the technical training that you will receive in department there is a core programme aimed to help you develop personally in areas such as confidence, resilience and leadership

Can you obtain Chartership on the graduate scheme and if so how would I go about becoming chartered?

If you choose to work towards Chartership with a professional body this is usually something you start on the graduate programme – it usually takes 4/5 years.
